Sausage Stromboli!
I think I have mentioned my fear of pizza dough...don't know why. My daughter begged me to teach her how to make it. We asked my mom for her recipe, pushed up our sleeves, and started experimenting. Easy dough recipe! Ashley has really become a great pizza chef. Tonight we tried Stromboli using what we had around here. I am already coming up with other filling ideas. We made the dough (recipe below). For the filling we used ground sausage, mushrooms, and Ash's pizza sauce (which is tomato sauce with a lot of seasonings). Spread the pizza dough on a greased baking sheet. Put the filling and shredded cheese down the middle of the dough. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling; sealing the edges. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Slice (I used my kitchen scissors) and enjoy!
Pizza Dough
(Makes two pizza crusts/ Stromboli)
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbl. vegetable oil
2 1/2 cups flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining dough ingredients. Beat vigorously, about 20 strokes. Allow dough to rest about 5 minutes while preparing sauce of Stromboli filling.
350 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.
